It appears to me Bryant’s not the only editor to do this. I can think one Portrait editor who tags his photos all the time. It’s too bad tumblr allows this. No editor should be allowed to tag their own images.
this just makes me sad. the majority of tumblr’s “editors” behind the more popular photography tags such as landscape and portrait do a good job of posting great pictures…and then people like bryant eslava ruin it by promoting half of the stuff they post. every time I click on these tags, I see one of his photos. and since he’s an editor of both tags (and since I can’t imagine why anyone else would feature the majority of his photos), I can only assume he’s featuring himself.
bryant eslava, this is not a landscape. this is a shitty photo. seriously, what the hell. I’m really going to call you out here. there’s no meaning behind it, there are no racial/cultural/social conversations being created, there’s nothing to think about, it’s not even pleasant to look at, it’s just a really shitty photo. and the number of notes on it has practically doubled since I took the screenshot.
bryant eslava, you have made some nice images, I’m not going to lie. I’m not the biggest fan of your work, but I think plenty of your photos are pretty good. this, however, is not. stick to skinny hipster bitches. also, stop it with the intense saturation and high contrast. it doesn’t make your photos better.
so, really, what’s my beef with this kid, right? am I jealous of his tens of thousands of followers? no. am I jealous that he goes to new york fashion week and sits next to the olsen twins? definitely no. I have exactly two problems with the dude: he is using tumblr’s featured tags to HEAVILY promote his work even when it sucks (I wouldn’t give a shit if it was just one photo every once in a while), and he unfriended me on facebook. but we still have like ten mutual friends. that was really a dick move. just kidding, I don’t give a shit. but seriously, if he just stopped promoting his work so heavily through the landscape and portrait tags, I would take both of those tags much more seriously…erm…actually now that I think about it, it will take a lot of work for me to take the landscape tag seriously.
I’m pretty sure I’ll delete this in a few seconds/minutes but I just needed to get it off my chest.
